This year marks 50 years since Colony Bank was founded. On behalf of our entire team, thank you for placing your trust in us and for allowing us to be a part of your lives, your businesses, and your communities.
In 1975, a group of local leaders and business owners in Fitzgerald, Georgia, saw something others didn’t. They saw potential in the people around them and a problem that needed solving. The banks in town weren’t supporting local families or small businesses. That needed to change. So, they took a bold step and built a bank that would.
They invested their own capital, they put their reputations on the line, and they gave their time to build something that believed in that community and its people. It wasn’t an easy decision. They had families to provide for and businesses to run. If it didn’t work, the cost would’ve been high. But they believed the risk was worth it, and they believed in the promise of progress.
That belief still drives us today.
When I think about our founders, I also think about the people we serve – hardworking individuals, determined entrepreneurs, and resilient families. Your grit, your commitment, and your faith in what’s possible continue to inspire us. That spirit is woven into the fabric of Colony Bank.
