Colony Bank Promotes Richard Welch to Valdosta Market President

We are excited to announce the promotion of Richard Welch to Valdosta Market President.

Richard joined the Company in October 2020 as Vice President, Commercial Banker. Prior to Colony Bank, he served as Vice President and Commercial Lender for Synovus Bank. Richard, who has fifteen years of banking experience, has also held positions to include Business Service Officer for BB&T’s mid-south region, which included Valdosta, and Commercial Lender for the Southern Georgia Regional Commission. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Valdosta State University and has been certified by the National Development Council as an Economic Development Finance Professional.

Commenting on the announcement, Mike Davis, President, Community Banking, said, “Since joining Colony, Richard has demonstrated extensive industry experience and a commitment to building long-term relationships in the Valdosta market. I congratulate him on this promotion and look forward to his continued contributions in his new role as Market President.”

Richard and his wife, Megan, have two sons, Carter and Rhett, and are members of the Park Avenue Methodist Church. He enjoys volunteering throughout the community and currently serves as co-chair for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lowndes County Executive Board and is a member of the Board of the Greater Valdosta United Way. In his free time, Richard enjoys serving as a Coach at Future Sports in baseball, football, basketball and soccer, as well as playing golf and hunting.
